Arbor Press Force Gauge Instructions
General
The piston applies pressure to a fluid ( 99.5 % Glycerine) The area of the piston bore is 1 square inch. The gauge reads in pounds per square inch. Accuracy is +/- 4%
Mounting
Hold the slot opposite the piston to the bottom of the ram and tighten the set screws. For a 1” ram place the shims on either side of the slot before tightening the set screws. This will center the piston under the ram.
Use
There is a mounting hole for tooling in the piston. Do not mount anything heavy to the piston as it is not captured in the body.
Exceeding the pressure range of the gauge can damage the gauge to where it will not return to zero. Be especially careful with the lower pressure gauges.
Choosing an Arbor Press for your gauge
The tonnage of the press should match or exceed the maximum force needed.
The working height of the press minus 1.2" for the gauge should accommodate your operation.
The swing (diameter of workpiece) should also accommodate your operation.
